A beautiful opportunity was offered to Lidy Blijdorp: she could choose a composer to write a new cello concerto especially for her and the Residentie Orkest. Lidy invited Joël Bons to write this concerto. The world premiere took place on September 10 2022 in The Hague.
With Noord Nederlands Orchestra
Lidy Blijdorp played the Rococo Variations with the NNO in Groningen and Leeuwarden. Conductor was Martin Sieghart.
Residentie Orkest
In December, during a lockdown period, the Residentie Orkest invited Lidy Blijdorp to perform two compositions for cello and orchestra in a streaming concert. The performance was recorded in The Hague.
Utrecht: Rococo Variations
In July Lidy played the Rococo Variations with the fantastic Wonderful Festival Orchestra at the Utrecht Canal concert at Podium Weerdsluis.
Rococo Variations with CCO
Lidy performed the Rococo Variations with the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra at a concert during the Tsjaikovsky Ball. The event took place at the Tropenmuseum in Amsterdam. All guests were asked to come dressed in the costumes of his time.
